Sixth grader's vocabulary lesson today was Empathy, Encouragement, Teamwork, and Communication. These were the big words tackled with hand-on understanding. In two groups, the kids challenged themselves personally to dig deep and conquer obstacles on the high ropes course. Then challenged themselves as a team, to move an "injured person" (one group named Adam Sandler and the other group called 'The Rock', yes, Dwayne Johnson) through a set of obstacles with restricting rules. At the end of the day, every student has a story to tell of their personal fears, frustrations, strengths, and what they learned. Thank you to the Eagle Village staff for the experience and the delicious lunch.
