students being honored
The Annual Patriot's Pen Essay Contest Banquet was held last week. The snow didn't keep everyone from enjoying a fine dinner served up. The authors of the winning essays were honored with a certificate and monetary prize from Post 6015. Each winner shared their essay with the audience. The essay theme this year was "My Role in Democracy". The third place winner this year with a fifty dollar prize was Miss RaeLynn England-Berlage and second place winner, with a seventy-five dollar prize was Mr. Karter Cooper. Both are sixth graders at Marion Jr./Sr. High School. Miss Sophie Mosher, 8th grader from McBain, was the first place winner this year earning a one hundred dollar prize. The evening concluded with a prize drawing for all in attendance. Thank you to the VFW and Auxiliary for sponsoring this great event for our students in the area and for hosting the banquet to help celebrate the achievements. MHS extends congratulations to the winners this year! Next year we hope to see some high school students enter as well with the Voices of Democracy Essay Contest. students being honoredstudents being honored
