Dear Marion Families,
At 10:00 AM today, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer recommended that Michigan schools move high School students to remote learning and suspend all youth athletics.
We understand the hardship that school closure places on our families, as well as the social, emotional, and educational impact it has on our students. Our area school districts have been working together with the Health Department throughout this pandemic and will continue to do so, in order to best serve the health and education of our children.
Our local health department does not recommend a widespread pause to in-person education, rather they recommend that individual school systems make decisions regarding whether providing in-person vs. remote education is best and safest for their students. As a result of the rising numbers of positive cases and number of quarantined staff and students, Marion Public Schools made the decision to have remote instruction until April 20th. Other local districts are not seeing the increases that Marion is, and therefore they will remain open. All local districts will continue to offer athletics. Individual school decisions are always made in consultation with our local Health Department.
Marion Preventative Measures:
We wear masks and socially distance as much as possible.
All frequently touched areas are sanitized constantly during the day.
All athletes are tested three times a week to be able to participate in athletic activities
In closing, we are committed to the health of our students! We care. We want you to reach out if/when you have needs or special circumstances that should be considered. We are here to help.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult times.
