Great Lakes Invitational @ Beal City: Marion results
Marion track teams competed at the Great Lakes Invitational on another cold and windy Friday afternoon, May 7th. In spite of the weather and being a little short-handed due to illness, the boys really responded well to the difficulties taking home the Runner Up Trophy finishing in 2nd. We have a group of guys that are just starting to figure out what they are capable of doing. Some are just freshmen and sophomores who haven't competed on the varsity level but are excelling and are a real strength for the team. The enthusiasm and leadership, however, coming from our seniors who also haven't had a lot of track experience is really what is putting us over the top. It's great to see the kids just excited to compete and support their teammates in other events. One of those senior leaders who had a great day was McCoy Williams winning the 100m (11.85s), shot put (40' 7"), and the long jump (18' 8.5"). Braden Prielipp also had a great meet winning the HJ (6'2"), the 400 (58.89s), and was a member of the winning 4x400m relay (4:01.20). The contributing cast included:
- James Alberts 7th/100m and 8th/disc
- Mason Salisbury: 3rd/400m, 2nd/HJ and 1st/4x400m relay
- Josh Peterson: 4th/400m and 1st/4x400m relay
- Eric Williams: 7th/800m and 6th/110HH
- Aadin Yowell: 5th/110HH and 4th/300mLH and 1st/4x400m relay
- Thomas Jenema: 2nd/LJ and 4th/HJ
