To explore the use of sensationalized news and propaganda during the Revolutionary War Era, the 8th Grade US History Classes prepared Readers Theater style performances of the Boston Massacre. The 6th grade G.R.I.T. Class gained some experience as performance critics, as they pointed out stars (what they liked about each performance group) and wishes (what they wished would have been done differently). The G.R.I.T. Class will put their own advice to work as they begin to prepare their own skit, "George Washington's Spectacles" for the US History Classes later this year!

Did you know that Marion Public Schools hosts foreign exchange students every year? This year, we welcomed Rita from Barletta, Italy! She currently participates in Sideline Cheer and Volleyball. Her favorite American experience so far is attending Cow Camp.
The 6th Grade Geography Class is currently learning about culture. They would like to thank Rita for listening to their presentation on the culture of Italy. Rita then shared her own presentation of Italy's culture with the class. Probably the best part of the lesson was the Question and Answer session that followed. Thank you Rita for sharing Italian culture with the 6th grade, Marion, and the United States!

SEEDS has been cancelled for today, October 17th.

The 7th grade Ancient History Class has been exploring how early peoples communicated. Earlier this year, a cave paintings activity focused on illustrating culturally important parts of their life. Currently they are finishing up a unit on the Fertile Crescent during which they had some fun seeing the difference between Cuneiform, a language where symbols represented words and syllables, and Phoenician, an early alphabetic language.

The Marion National Honor Society, Cross Country Team, and a couple of Cheerleaders had a blast volunteering at the Ragnar Michigan Road Race! The NHS ensured the first relay hand-off at Exchange 1 in Traverse City went smoothly. The Cross Country team and Cheerleaders built the finish line and welcomed the first few relay teams across the finish line in Muskegon. From start to finish, that's OVER 200 MILES OF RUNNING in a day and a half! One of those teams included some familiar faces! Great '24 finish to team "In my Ragnar Era!!" Thanks for being such awesome role models.

Marion hosted the Burr Oak HS traveling Volleyball team on Thursday Oct 3 as they passed through the area on their way to the UP. Good Luck Burr Oak! Thanks for the great game.

This Friday is a half day of school. If your child needs alternative transportation, please contact the bus garage to ensure they are dropped off at the correct location.

Important information for Middle School parents!

The Marion Cross Country Team traveled North to the Hanson Hills Recreation Area to compete in The Grayling Cross Country Invitational. Runners fought through sandy terrain with a combination of open blue skies and a beautiful wooded section. The ski slope backdrop behind the finish line proved to be too tempting. AFTER the races were over, this team attacked the hill and conquered it!

Here are our 7th graders enjoying their time learning as part of the CNET program at CTC.
